This blog post will go through some quick tips, including Q/A and related blog posts on the topics that we covered in the Oracle Integration Cloud Day 3 Live Session, which will help you gain a better understanding and make it easier for you to
This week’s Day 4 and Day 5 Live Sessions we started with Module 6: OIC Agents where we covered topics like OIC Connectivity Agents , Agent Set Up, JDK Installation, Agent Groups, Agent Architecture, Agent Framework, ATP Database, ATP Adapter
We also covered hands-on, Lab 6, Lab 7, Lab 8, Lab 9 and Lab 10 out of our 30+ extensive labs.
OIC Connectivity Agents
The on-premises Connectivity agent enables you to create integrations between on-premises applications and Oracle Integration Cloud Service (ICS). Connectivity Agent acts as a Gateway from On-premise to ICS. Connectivity Agents consists of following two components i.e. SaaS Agent and On Premise Agent. All connections are initiated by the Agent to the Integration Cloud and not vice versa.

Question 1: What OIC Connectivity is required ?
Answer: OIC Connectivity Agent are the agents that help you create integrations between on-premises applications and Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) Service. Connectivity Agents are required for Oracle Integration Cloud to communicate or exchange messages with on-premise applications like Database, E-Business Suite, etc.
The OIC connectivity agent is used for a secure hybrid deployment, where you have a mix of cloud and on-premise applications and need to ensure a secure communication. The agent is the handler/listener that manages both inbound/outbound communication. This ensures that there is no need to open a port in the on premise firewall.
Question 2: What are the steps required for the Agent Framework implementation for connectivity?
Answer: The Agent Framework implementation for connectivity includes the following steps
1. Create an Agent Group
2. Download and install agent on your host and bind with Agent Group
3. Create adapter connection and associate the connection with the Agent Group
4. Design an integration that uses this Integration Connection
5. Activate integration

Java Development Kit (JDK)
The Java Development Kit (JDK) is one of the core technology packages used in Java Programming, along with JVM (Java Virtual Machine) and the JRE (Java Runtime Environment). The Java Development Kit (JDK) is a software development environment that offers a collection of tools and libraries necessary for developing Java applications. You need the JDK to convert your source code into a format that the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) can execute.
Question 3: How to download and Install JDK 8 for OIC Agent?
Answer: To download and Install JDK 8 for OIC Agent, follow the below mentioned steps
1. Download Java 8 from the Oracle’s Oracle’s Java Website (Open Java is not supported by Oracle Connectivity Agents.)
2. Run the Installer
3 After installing, set Java_Home variable and path variable for JDK 8 on Windows 10
4 Finally check the version of the JDK installed by running the command java -version in the Command Prompt

Question 4: What is JKS file and what is the default password for For keystore.jks ?
Answer: A Java Key Store (JKS) is a repository of security certificates , either authorization certificates or public key certificates plus corresponding private keys, used for instance in TLS encryption. The default password for keystore.jks is changeit

Agent Groups
An Agent Group is a logical grouping of Agents. You must create an agent group and install the on-premises connectivity agent before you can create an integration in which messages are exchanges between your on-premises applications and Oracle Integration.
After you have installed the on-premises agent, you can create a connection that uses the agent group and its associated on-premises agent. Only agent groups whose monitoring status is green on the Agent Monitoring page and which have not yet been associated with an adapter can be selected.

Question 5: What differs one Agent group from another Agent group, as the download agent is common for all?
Answer: Basically, OIC agent installer is the same but what we can create multiple agents group and bind agent with different agent groups which means that agent will remain the same and might be agent group is different.
For example, in Web logic, we create data sources which connect our databases so if we have a different-different database then we create different-different data sources, similarly if we have different agent group to connect to the different host.
Question 6: How can we stop the Agent in the foreground and background?
Answer: Foreground: If you are running your agent in the foreground then and close the command prompt from which you have started the agent that starts will down automatically.
Background: If you run an agent in the background, search the PID, and kill the PID which will lead the agent down.
Question 7: If we want to get data from EBS Oracle Database into OIC, do we need to install an OIC agent??
Answer: Yes, you will require an OIC agent to get data from EBS Oracle Database into OIC
Question 8: What is the size of OIC connectivity Agent Installer?
Answer: Connectivity agent installer is very light weight agent and it is approximately 162 MB
Question 9: What is ATP Database?
Answer: ATP stands for Autonomous Transaction Processing. ATP database is a self-driving database that is built to run a complex mix of high-performance database, along with other workloads like IoT, reporting, batch jobs, Real-time analytics, and Machine learning. ATP is built on the same autonomous database as Autonomous Data warehouse (ADW).

Question 10: What are the benefits of ATP Adapter
Answer: The benefits of ATP Adapter are:
1. Invoke a stored procedure.
2. Run SQL statements.
3. Perform the below operation on a Table.
- Insert
- Update
- Insert or Update (Merge)
- Select

Question 11: What’s the difference between ATP and DBCS?
Answer: DBCS stands for Database Cloud Service that provides the ability to deploy Oracle Database in Oracle Cloud. The Database service offers autonomous and co-managed Oracle Database cloud solutions. Autonomous databases are preconfigured, fully-managed environments that are suitable for either transaction processing or for data warehouse workloads. Co-managed solutions are bare metal, virtual machine, and Exadata DB systems that you can customize with the resources and settings that meet your needs.
Autonomous Transaction Processing (ATP) is a database for a transactional workload, with a bias toward high volumes of random data access. Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW) is a database for a decision support or data warehouse workload, with a bias towards large data scanning operations.
Question 12: What is the minimum Storage requirement for Oracle Autonomous Database?
Answer: The minimum storage requirement for Oracle Autonomous Database is 1 TB.
