Understanding OIC Integration 3 FTP Adapter
An FTP Adapter is a tool within OIC Integration that enables users to interact with FTP servers for file-based data exchange. FTP, a standard network protocol, facilitates the transfer of files between a client and a server over a network. The FTP Adapter acts as a bridge, allowing seamless communication between OIC Integration and remote FTP servers.
Key Features and Capabilities
- Secure Connectivity: The FTP Adapter in OIC Integration provides secure connectivity options, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of data transferred between systems.
- File Management: Users can perform a range of file management operations, including uploading, downloading, renaming, and deleting files on remote FTP servers.
- Integration Flexibility: OIC Integration’s FTP Adapter offers flexibility in integrating with various systems and applications, enabling seamless data exchange across heterogeneous environments.
- Error Handling: Robust error handling capabilities help manage exceptions and ensure the reliability of file transfer processes, enhancing the overall resilience of integration workflows.

Step by Step : How to Write a File Using OIC FTP Adapter
- Create a REST Connection (Role-Trigger)
Create a FTP Connection
- Create a FTP Connection, FTP Connection is always Invoke type.
Create An Integration
- Create a new integration with Appdriven Type.
- Drag the rest(or) trigger connection to canvas and add to integration.
- Provide Operation Name and URI and select method as POST.
- Select the request Payload as JSON and click on inline and write a sample data for file.
- Click on Continue and check the endpoint summary and click on Finish.
- Click Invokes from right navigation, Select FTP Connection, drag and drop the connection in the canvas
- Provide the name to endpoint of your own choice and click on continue, select operation as WriteFile, Transfer mode and provide input directory.
- If you are using OIC Provided FTP Server your input directory would be /home/users/username and provide File Pattern, how your file should be written.
- Select Yes to write a file (sample delimited document), so that you can provide file of your own choice.
- Select the file(CSV) you want to write in the ftp server and select it from its location and drag and drop.and check the endpoint summary and click on finish.
- Now map the integration. Source->Target
- Now Add the primary business identifiers and you can also add until three business identifier.
Activate and Test the Integration
- Test the integration which you have created
- Now file automatically will be written in the OIC FTP Server.
Benefits of using FTP Adapter
The FTP Adapter in OIC Integration caters to a wide range of use cases across industries:
- Data Migration: Facilitates seamless migration of files and data between systems during application upgrades or platform transitions.
- Batch Processing: Supports batch file transfers, enabling organizations to automate repetitive data processing tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Integration with Third-Party Systems: Integrates with third-party systems and applications that rely on FTP for file-based data exchange, enabling organizations to streamline business processes and foster collaboration.
- Scheduled Data Transfers: Enables scheduled transfers of files between systems, ensuring timely and reliable data synchronization and exchange.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the FTP Adapter in OIC Integration serves as a vital component in modern data integration strategies, enabling organizations to bridge the gap between disparate systems and streamline file-based data exchange processes. With its robust features, secure connectivity, and flexibility, the FTP Adapter empowers businesses to achieve seamless integration across heterogeneous environments, driving efficiency, agility, and innovation in today’s digital landscape.
