Microservices based application (aka Cloud-Native or Container Native) are deployed on Containers (Docker) and managed by Kubernetes is a new way of developing, deploying and managing Application. 

➊ The development process has gone from Waterfall Model to Agile to now DevOps
➋ Similarly, Application Architecture has gone from Monolithic to N-Tier to now Micro-services.
➌ If you run micro-services directly on Physical Server or VMs then you are underutilizing resources, run them on containers (Docker)
➍ Running & managing 5-10 containers manually is OK but when you have 20-30 nodes and hundreds of Containers, you need Container Orchestration tool like Kubernetes.
